Rep. Cuellar Secures $171,600 in Federal Funding to Support De-Escalation Training Efforts

U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28) secured $171,600 in federal funding for the city of San Antonio to support de-escalation training efforts. The funding comes as part of the administration's efforts to advance the practice of community policing in law enforcement.

"Community policing is all about relationships and interactions with the community. Increasing trust between our law enforcement and the people they serve will allow us to be more effective in keeping our communities safe. De-escalation training equips our officers with skills that prevent the escalation of conflicts and violence, making police interactions less confrontational," said Congressman Cuellar. "I will continue to utilize my position on the House Appropriations Committee to secure funding for our local law enforcement agencies that provides them with resources, both tangible and non-tangible, to perform their jobs in an effective, and safe, manner."
