Last night,U.S. Representative John Rose (TN-6) voted against H.R. 6119, making continuing appropriations for fiscal year 2022. This short-term continuing resolution (CR) provides funding only through February 18, 2022 and serves as a quick fix to fund the federal government.
"A basic duty of Congress is to properly maintain the budget, and the funding deadline comes along at the same time every year. Yet time and time again, Congress fails to carry out its annual appropriations. Today, the House of Representatives passed yet another short-term continuing resolution that once again fails to address our nation's $29 trillion debt. Instead of focusing on working with Republicans on a responsible budget Democrats instead have chosen to recklessly focus on their big government tax and spending reconciliation bill.
"Continuing resolutions are a bad way to govern that perpetuate the inability of Congress to properly fund the government and further add to our nation's reckless spending. As our national debt continues to soar, I am working to ensure a better fiscal future for all Tennesseans which is why I voted against H.R. 6119," said Representative Rose.
