Today, H.R. 2355, the Opioid Prescription Verification Act, passed the House. Rep. Budd sponsored the bill on August 27, 2021.

The legislation provides additional training to help pharmacists identify and report bad actors who attempt to "pharmacy shop" and stock up and deal in controlled substances. The bill also allows the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to prioritize federal funding to states that implement strong statewide reporting systems.

Rep. Ted Budd said in a statement:

"One of the best ways to fight the opioid crisis is to target the dealers who traffic in these deadly substances. This bill will help pharmacists identify and report criminals who perpetuate addiction and ruin lives. I'm glad to see this important bill pass the House and look forward to it soon becoming law."
