Today, Congressman Pete Stauber (MN-08) and Congressman Jack Bergman (MI-01) introduced a House Resolution expressing support for the Great Lakes shipping industry and the important role that this industry can play in alleviating President Biden's supply chain crisis.
Of his Resolution, Stauber stated, "Currently, scores of ships from around the world are waiting in waters off the coast of California, leaving shelves across the country bare and causing consumer prices to skyrocket. While top officials within the Biden White House dismiss this issue as a "high class problem' and continue to ignore the matter, Americans from every walk of life are experiencing the supply chain crisis firsthand. As the Representative of the largest freshwater port in the world, I know the thousands of workers who make up the Great Lakes shipping industry can play a part in resolving this matter, which is why I am proud to introduce this House Resolution with Rep. Bergman today."
Bergman stated, "Never underestimate the Great Lakes. With President Biden's supply chain crisis hitting home in every sense of the word, there is no better time than now to highlight the capacity of our Great Lakes ports and shipping industry. I'm introducing this resolution with Rep. Stauber, a fellow Great Lakes representative, because we know the hardworking men and women who drive Great Lakes shipping and support our local economies stand ready as an example of industry efficiency."
