Kaptur Announces $22M in Pandemic Response Funding for Rural Healthcare Providers

Today, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) announced the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded $22,069,581.41 in additional Covid-19 response funding to Northern Ohio healthcare providers that serve rural communities, including the University of Toledo Medical Center, Unison Behavioral Health, Firelands Regional Medical Center, Nord Center, Hospice of the Western Reserve, and more. The funding -- made possible by President Joe Biden's American Rescue Plan -- will support providers as they work to recover from the long-term impacts of the pandemic. Rep. Kaptur joined with nearly every House Democrat in supporting the American Rescue Plan, while Republicans unanimously opposed it.

"Throughout the pandemic, our hospitals, doctors, and nurses provided extraordinary levels of care under the most difficult of circumstances -- making sure no one was left behind," said Rep. Kaptur. "Rural healthcare providers have always faced unique challenges, which were only exacerbated by Covid-19. President Biden's American Rescue Plan is delivering the resources our providers need to recover, and strengthening them for the future needs of our region."
