Congressman Horsford Votes to Prevent Government Shutdown

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, Congressman Steven Horsford (D-NV-04) voted to pass H.R. 5305, a short-term funding bill to avert an immediate government shutdown.

"Today, I cast a common-sense vote to temporarily extend funding for essential government services, including pandemic response efforts," said Congressman Steven Horsford. "While today's vote was critically important, it is only a stopgap measure. To avoid another devastating shutdown, Republicans must come to the table to help us pass a long-term spending bill and lift the debt limit, just like we did three times during the Trump administration. Keeping the government funded should not be a partisan issue."

H.R. 5305 extends funding for critical government agencies and services, including education, health, housing, and public safety programs. The legislation also includes $28.6 billion to help communities recover from major disasters, including wildfire and severe drought, and $6.3 billion to support vetting, temporary housing, and resettlement for eligible Afghan evacuees.
