Rubio Speaks with Máxima 92.5FM Tampa Bay

Interview

US Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) spoke with Nio Encendio de Máxima 92.5 Tampa Bay about federal vaccination mandates against COVID-19, the national crisis in the face of inflation and the price of gasoline, the lousy approval ratings from the Biden administration, on how the Administration would restrict religious freedom in schools, and on protests planned in Cuba for November 15.

A slightly edited transcript is below.

On federal COVID-19 vaccination mandates
"You have to understand, contrary to what Joe Biden said, it is interesting that Joe Biden is not governing the way he campaigned. For example, this idea of mandating vaccines for federal employees and federal contractors and companies with more than 100 employees, he never talked about during his campaign. That's something that has increased now because the extremists in the [Democratic] party demand it and [Biden] has to give it to them. And finally, we are seeing the consequences.

"A private industry is one thing, a small business that says' look at my business, everyone has to be vaccinated. If you don't like it, you can't go in and you can't work. ' That in a free country, in a private economy, is the right of the owner of a [private] property or a business. But another thing is that the government tells you 'even if you don't like it, if your employees are not vaccinated, you have to fire them'. And that's what's happening.

"Here we have police, firefighters, nurses, a whole series of people who are going to be [fired] from their jobs because they have not received this vaccine and we have seen the disasters that have been seen at the level of the airlines and everything else. It has divided, it has created an incredible division. Think now, for example, that you are a restaurant and you have a 19-year-old girl or boy working. That person you have now turned you into a policeman. That employee has to ask everyone for proof. Are you vaccinated or not vaccinated? And if he is not vaccinated, that person has to face him and say [to the client], you cannot come in now ... Imagine, then, the position that we have placed on people. We have divided the country in a ridiculous way and I think there are people who were willing to get vaccinated now,

"Anyway, this has been a disaster created by this administration and in violation of the promises they made when [Biden] ran for president."

On inflation in the country and the increase in gasoline prices
"In the US we have our own gasoline, we don't need oil from Saudi Arabia. It is he who has said no, there can be no production here. So how ridiculous!

"That is, for our part, we are going to limit North American production and, on the other hand, we are going to beg other countries to make more production. So he has to limit domestic production because the extremists in his party want it to be zero. They don't want oil here, no gasoline, absolutely nothing in less than eight years. The so-called Green New Deal which is a radical thing. But on the other hand, we are pleading with these countries for more production. What a ridiculous thing!

"Here Larry Summers, an economist who worked under Barack Obama, warned in March or April that these billions of dollars that the federal government was putting into the economy through the Biden plan that passed in February, the Democratic plan would to create an inflation problem in this country and they laughed at him and said that this was not going to happen, that this was something temporary. And it did happen and is happening. And the shortage we're seeing is going to get worse. Why? For two reasons: First, because here we depend a lot on China and countries in Asia. Here, if more of these things were made in the US, we wouldn't have this problem. Or if not, in the US, in this hemisphere. Why are there no factories in the Dominican Republic, in Haiti, in El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras? If there were factories there instead of China, first there would be more jobs for those people. They did not have to emigrate. And secondly [the products] could enter through Florida ports, for example, and not through California ports, which is the third problem. California laws are crazy.

"No independent trucker who lives in any other state is going to go to California to receive products and distribute them, because you have to become an employee of a company in California. You have to pay taxes in California for the day you are working there. So an independent trucker is not going to become an employee of a California company and pay California taxes for picking up a product. So what we are seeing is that this has been created by the madness of California law. That, in short, the laws of California are the laws that these people want for the entire country. Another disaster ".

On the lousy approval ratings of the Biden Administration
"We have an incompetent management, so this is going to get worse for the following reasons: We are entering a buying season. Here, everyone is shopping for Christmas. So there are fewer products and more people buying. Imagine what that is going to get to. You are going to run into a shortage of many, many basic things. Look, almost three months ago - eight, nine weeks - I took my truck to fix it, it needed a couple of parts. Ten weeks later, I'm still waiting. I haven't had my truck for over 10 weeks because that replacement [part] is not coming and it is not coming. And I think they finally called me yesterday that it had arrived and they had to pay double the price of what they had told me at the beginning. So, there you have an example of scarcity and inflation.

"Recently they were installing some sprinklers in front of my house, the man who was installing the sprinklers broke a piece of the device and it took him two months to fix it. So that's the real impact. And that's only in one person. Imagine any other business or anyone who wants to go out and buy, but I don't have to tell people. Today we are seeing it, a shortage of everything, for many reasons. But one of them is that this administration has denied that it was a problem and is really now beginning to take it seriously. "

On how the Administration would restrict religious freedom in schools
"It's an amazing thing… It takes over the Pre-K and childcare system. My children went to a Pre-K organized by a church. Under the new system that [the Democrats] are creating, if you are going to receive federal funds - which without federal funds you will not be able to be in that industry - you cannot have any religious teaching and you cannot demand anything religious in terms of hiring teachers. In a church ... if someone applies for a job, it can be an atheist, it can be someone who does not believe in God or it can be someone who is living a lifestyle that is completely contrary to the teachings of faith, one cannot discriminate against them. You cannot say well, we are not going to hire you, unfortunately, because you do not believe in God and this is a religious center. Beyond that, it is not possible to teach or speak of God. If you're going to accept federal funds, they are going to get hold of it. It is yet another example of how they want to completely take over the educational system in this country.

"In terms of why here exists, the radical ideas, of the socialists, of the extreme left, which is a small percentage of the people in this country - but a vast majority of the people who control powerful institutions in the country. So what [are] the beliefs and ideology of the extreme left and reality cannot coexist. But President Biden, who is surrounded by these people - and is the base of his party - without that extreme left they do not raise money, they cannot do absolute, they do not have activists, they are the ones that you have seen how they have fallen on him. to Senators Manchin and Sinema, the two Democrats who are resisting what they have done and the protests. They even followed her to the bathroom and took a video of her entering a women's bathroom at a university. You have seen the level they have reached. They are afraid of that extreme left, which they are demanding, so they understand that the majority of the country is not in favor of this, but they have no choice because - or they believe or they have to cooperate with that extreme left-- because it is the basis of your party. That is why these things are happening.

On the protests scheduled in Cuba for November 15
"We support 100% the people of Cuba. It is difficult what they are going to do and it is dangerous, we know it, so it is enormous courage. Unfortunately, the administration has not acted as we have asked about what the internet is and everything else. And now we will see what kind of coverage they can be given, and what kind of surveillance they can be given so that the world can clearly see what this Cuban regime is. We are going to do everything possible to broaden the voices of those within Cuba ".
