Statement

Date: Oct. 21, 2021
Location: Washington, DC

Assistant Speaker Katherine Clark (MA-5) released the following statement on her vote to hold Steve Bannon in Contempt of Congress for failing to cooperate with the investigation into the January 6 insurrection.

"Steven Bannon has refused to follow the rule of law and participate in the House's investigation into the January 6th insurrection. Those with knowledge about -- or responsibility for -- that dark day must comply with the House so we can get a full accounting of what transpired and memorialize the truth for the American people. We cannot allow questions to go unanswered and accountability to be dismissed. The House's vote today was a vote for truth, accountability, and the sanctity of our democracy."
