Capito Applauds House Mine Safety Hearings

CHARLESTON, WV -(2/23) - Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) is pleased with the decision of the House Education and Workforce Subcommittee on Workforce Protection to hold oversight hearings on Federal Mine Safety and Health regulations. The hearings will include testimony from Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) officials and other stakeholder groups on MSHA regulations and the federal role in protecting miners.

"I hope these hearings will help spur the additional regulatory and legislative actions needed to improve the safety of our miners," Capito said. "West Virginians have not forgotten the tragedies sixteen families endured last month, and I hope hearings will demonstrate to others in Congress the need for action."
