Rosen Applauds $348 Million for Nevada Projects Funded Through the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act (SNPLMA)

U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) applauded today's news that the Department of the Interior has allocated more than $348 million for 62 projects throughout Nevada and in the Lake Tahoe Basin for wildlife habitat conservation, wildfire prevention, outdoor recreation improvement, and more. This project funding is made possible through the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act (SNPLMA), which since 1998 has allowed the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to release federal land in the Las Vegas Valley in Clark County, Nevada and to partially use that revenue to fund federal land improvement projects. Senator Rosen has been a champion for preserving SNPLMA since she was first elected to Congress.
"I am thrilled that the Department of Interior has provided a new round of SNPLMA funding to invest in dozens of improvement and conservation projects across our state," said Senator Rosen. "Throughout my time in Congress, I have been a strong supporter of SNPLMA and defended attempts to divert funding from its special account.
Between recent wildfires and our millions of annual visitors, we must make a concerted effort to invest in our booming outdoor recreation economy while preserving Nevada lands for future generations. Funding from the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act enables our state to do so much - create new parks, take care of hundreds of miles of roads and trails, and protect environmentally sensitive land - and I will continue to support robust project funding through this critical program."
