Rep. Ted Budd (R-NC) has helped introduce H.R. 5236, the Prevent Taliban Support Act. The legislation would prohibit the removal of any sanctions against the Taliban government in Afghanistan unless explicitly authorized by Congress.
The bill was originally introduced by Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA).
Rep. Budd said in a statement:
"The new Taliban 'government' is filled with Islamic terrorists, they continue to give aid and comfort to Al-Qaeda operatives, and they routinely trample on the human rights of women and girls. All current U.S. sanctions on this brutal regime should be maintained unless Congress gives its approval. I want to commend Rep. Perry for leading this critical bill."
