Congressman Cuellar Presents $210,000 Affordable Housing Grant Check to Habitat for Humanity of San Antonio
Washington , DC - Congressman Henry Cuellar today presented a $210,000 affordable housing grant check to Habitat for Humanity of San Antonio.
The grant, provided by Broadway National Bank and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLBank Dallas), will help make it possible for 21 very low- to moderate-income families to purchase their first homes. Congressman Cuellar joined Habitat, Broadway National Bank and FHLBank Dallas representatives at a check presentation ceremony, where he congratulated the participants for working together to find creative solutions to the lack of affordable housing.
"The single biggest hurdle to first-time homeownership is saving enough money to make the purchase," said Congressman Cuellar during a visit to the Palo Alto subdivision development on the west side of Maria Isabel in the southwest side of town near Palo Alto College. "These funds will help close the gap' between limited personal savings and traditional sources of financing for 21 families ready to purchase their first homes."
