Rep. Delgado Meets with Ellenville Police Department

ELLENVILLE, NY -- Today, U.S. Representative Antonio Delgado (NY-19) met with Ellenville Police Department officers and walked around the village with Police Chief Phillip Mattracion. The Congressman and Chief discussed the importance of supporting local law enforcement and community policing.

"I want to thank Chief Mattracion and the entire Ellenville Police Department for their work to protect and serve the community," said Rep. Delgado. "Today, we had a great conversation about the department's approach to engaging the community. It was good to see it in action as we walked around the village."

"It was an honor and a privilege to have Congressman Delgado as my partner on a ride along today in the Village of Ellenville. Congressman Delgado was treated just like a rookie officer out of the academy would be on his/her first day. He was outfitted with a bullet proof vest, and was able to see firsthand what equipment and things our police officers must use and do on a daily basis. He then spent time going on patrol, and participating in our daily community policing walk and talks. He was able to view the progress and changes that have been made as a result of police reform, and the emphasis that I place on community policing in this agency, that fosters improved police community relations, and gives us the ability to promote trust with our residents. I sincerely meant my offer to him, when I said I wanted to hire him at any time, he is a true gentleman, and should serve as a role model for his peers to follow," said Chief Philip S Mattracion, Village of Ellenville P.D.
