Congressman Horsford, Secretary Walsh, and Congresswoman Lee Hold Roundtable Discussion on Strengthening Youth Employment and Workforce Development

NORTH LAS VEGAS, NEV. -- Today, Congressman Steven Horsford (D-NV-04), Department of Labor Secretary Marty Walsh, and Congresswoman Susie Lee (D-NV-03) hosted a roundtable discussion on how to strengthen youth employment and workforce development programs. Congressman Horsford, Secretary Walsh, and Congresswoman Lee were joined by labor leaders, local youth, and community activists.

"Providing young people with the economic opportunities they deserve is essential as we build back from this pandemic," said Congressman Steven Horsford. "Today's roundtable discussion was a tremendous opportunity to hear from our young adults, local leaders, and labor community about how the Department of Labor and the House of Representatives can prioritize workforce development and secure training opportunities for young Nevadans. I'm thankful to Secretary Walsh for his steadfast advocacy on behalf of all hard-working Americans and I'm committed to working with him to advance these shared goals."

During the roundtable, Congressman Horsford spoke with Secretary Walsh about his bill, the Break the Cycle of Violence Act, which would provide the Department of Labor $1.5 billion to create a grant program for eligible organizations and local governments to provide job training, education, apprenticeships, skilled trade trainings, and other opportunities to youth throughout the country.
