Washington, D.C. -- Rep. Ted Budd (R-NC) has co-sponsored H.R. 1607, the Homeland and Cyber Threat Act. This bill allows Americans to make federal and state claims against foreign nations that conduct cyberattacks against American citizens. The bill is bipartisan and was originally introduced by Colin Allred (D-TX).

Rep. Budd said in a statement:

"Every American should have the right to seek justice against a foreign nation who engages in cyber attacks. Oftentimes, the best way to hold these regimes accountable is to make them susceptible to damages in U.S. courts. I'm glad to join a bipartisan bill that would empower Americans to seek justice against cyber crimes."
