DURBIN STATEMENT ON UNITED AIRLINES FLIGHT ATTENDANTS' PENSION RATIFICATION

U.S. Senator Dick Durbin released the following statement on the pension agreement reached by United Airlines and the Association of Flight Attendants (AFA):

"I'm pleased the pension agreement reached by United Airlines and the Association of Flight Attendants has been approved by United's flight attendants. On several occasions, Sen. Obama and I convened meetings to encourage an agreement between AFA and United Airlines. The negotiations have been lengthy and tough, and I applaud the dedication of both parties to reaching a final agreement.

"We all want to help United succeed. Sacrifices have been made from every corner of the United family over the course of the last several years to keep the airline strong. United's return from bankruptcy is remarkable."
