DURBIN STATEMENT FOLLOWING RELEASE OF WHITE HOUSE REPORT ON FEDERAL RESPONSE TO HURRICANE KATRINA

- U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) today issued the following statement after the White House released its report on the federal government's response to Hurricane Katrina:

"The White House report shows why we must have professionals, not political patrons, in charge of America's preparedness and disaster response. With hurricane season less than four months away, time is running short for the Administration to convince Americans that it has learned its lessons after the Katrina disaster."
