Today, Rep. Ted Budd (R-NC) co-sponsored the Expanding Opportunity Zones Act. The bill was originally introduced by Rep. Jim Hagedorn (R-MN).

The bill would increase the number of Opportunity Zone designations in each state to 30 percent and extend the tax deferral date to December 31, 2029.

Rep. Budd said in a statement:

"Opportunity Zones have been proven to boost economic advancement, job creation, and upward mobility in low-income communities across North Carolina and the United States. As our country battles back from the effects of pandemic shutdowns and government restrictions, it is critical that we expand economic opportunity for everyone, and this bill would do just that. I want to thank Rep. Hagedorn for leading this important legislation."
