Rep. Ted Budd (R-NC) released the following statement after the House passed the Senate Amendment to H.R. 3237, which funded the National Guard and law enforcement, as well as permanently prohibited the installation of fencing around the U.S. Capitol complex:
"The U.S. Capitol is a symbol of freedom both at home and abroad. Military-style fencing around that symbol was a tremendous symbolic stain on our country and I'm glad to support the passage of a bill that makes certain that it never happens again. I am also proud to support legislation that fully funds the men and women of our National Guard and law enforcement, who performed their duties in excellent fashion, as they always do."
Background:
On February 5, 2021, Rep. Budd led a coalition of 41 House Republicans calling on Speaker Pelosi to remove the fencing.
