Letter to Hon. Joseph Cuffari, Inspector General of Department of Homeland Security - Congressman Matt Gaetz Visits Border, Calls for IG Investigation into DHS Releasing Illegal Aliens

Letter

Date: July 15, 2021
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Immigration

Inspector General Cuffari:

It is now apparent that under President Biden's Administration, the Department of Homeland Security has ceased cooperating with local law enforcement agencies in deporting criminal illegal aliens.

Reports show that contrary to the policy of the Trump Administration, criminal illegal aliens are being released from local jails and permitted to remain in the interior, as opposed to being handed over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement for immediate deportation.

The Department of Homeland Security is tasked with defending our nation from foreign and domestic threats. As an agency of our executive branch, the Department must take care that the laws of our nation are faithfully executed. This blatant refusal to enforce our nation's existing immigration laws at the expense of the safety of American citizens shocks the conscience.

Many Americans have been killed by dangerous illegal aliens who should never have been in this country, much less permitted to remain. Border protection and the right to exclude are necessary to the security and sovereignty of a free state. All illegal aliens must be deported in accordance with our laws, including DACA illegal aliens.

I hereby request that your office conduct an immediate investigation and produce a report on your Department's refusal to cooperate with local law enforcement agencies. We must find out on whose authority the Department is acting when it disregards its duty to see that our U.S. Constitution is adhered to and federal law is faithfully executed.

Sincerely,
