Congressman John Joyce, M.D. (PA-13), a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, today introduced the Advancing Gig Economy Act of 2021, which would study the gig economy and promote growth for the 21st century.
"Innovation is key for 21st century success, and it is imperative that Americans are equipped to lead the way into the future. As the gig economy continues to expand, we cannot allow burdensome regulations to stand in the way of advancements," said Dr. Joyce. "The Advancing the Gig Economy Act takes key steps toward growing and sustaining the gig economy, an increasingly important part of America's workforce and economy."
The Advancing Gig Economy Act of 2021 would require the U.S. Secretary of Commerce to conduct a study on the gig economy and the impact the gig economy has on the United States' overall economy, including the impact that state laws have had on the gig economy.
