WASHINGTON D.C. -- U.S. Senator Alex Padilla (D-Calif.) released the following statement on the ongoing violence in Israel and Gaza:

"The recent violence in Israel and Gaza is heartbreaking. I stand with my colleagues in calling for an immediate ceasefire in Israel and the Palestinian territories, and I urge the Biden administration to help de-escalate the violence to protect the lives of innocent civilians."
