Rep. Delgado Announces Nearly $80 Million for Local Colleges and Students

Today, U.S. Representative Antonio Delgado (NY-19) announced nearly $80 million in emergency funding for colleges and students in New York's 19th Congressional District under the American Rescue Plan. The funding will help local institutions cope with the severe financial fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic and continue serving their students safely. At least half of the funding each institution receives will be distributed in the form of emergency cash assistance grants to students who are facing hunger, homelessness, and other hardship.

The American Rescue Plan provides $36 billion for nearly 3,500 public and private, nonprofit colleges and universities nationwide.

"This is a historic investment that will help students stay on track and complete their education," said Rep. Delgado. "I am proud to deliver nearly $80 million to our local colleges to respond to and recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. This funding will support public and private 4-year institutions, community colleges, and trade schools -- ensuring all students have access to critical assistance."

The colleges in New York's 19th Congressional District receiving funding under the American Rescue Plan are:

SUNY Ulster/Ulster County Community College: $5,170,379

Hartwick College: $3,226,821
Columbia - Greene Community College: $3,226,821
Sullivan County Community College/ SUNY Sullivan: $3,560,721
Otsego Northern Catskills BOCES/Otsego Delaware Schoharie Greene BOCES: $137,794
Dutchess BOCES School of Practical Nursing: $667,109
Ulster County BOCES School of Practical Nursing: $215,663

The American Rescue Plan also includes nearly $3 billion in additional funding -- which will be distributed at a later date -- for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs), other Minority-Serving Institutions, and other under-resourced institutions.
