DelBene Statement Urging a Ceasefire in Israel-Hamas Conflict

Representative Suzan DelBene (WA-01) today released the following statement in response to ongoing violence in Israel and the Palestinian territories:
"The loss of Israeli and Palestinian lives from this conflict is a tragedy and my heart breaks for the families suffering on both sides. This escalating hostility risks becoming a wider conflict and deeper humanitarian crisis if diplomatic steps aren't taken soon. I support Israel's right to defend its citizens from the ongoing attacks from Hamas as well as President Biden's call for an immediate ceasefire. The cycle of violence must be broken and I urge Israel and Palestinians to take steps towards a two-state solution."
