Congressman Roy issued the following statement Monday following Governor Abbott's decision to opt Texas out of further federal unemployment compensation related to the pandemic:
Small businesses in Texas and across the country have been getting crushed and are struggling to hire people because the government has been paying people not to work; I applaud Governor Abbott for doing the right thing for Texas' economy. A country $30 trillion in debt simply cannot afford to keep spending money like this for people to stay home when millions of jobs are going unfilled; it's insane and irresponsible.
