WASHINGTON - Congresswoman Teresa Leger Fernández released the following statement in response to the violence in Israel and Gaza:
"I am horrified by the escalating violence in Israel and Gaza, and I condemn the violence.
"Hamas must immediately end its indiscriminate rocket attacks on innocent Israelis. For its part, Israel must protect the lives of Palestinian children and families - civilian casualties to this crisis.
"My heart breaks for the Israeli and Palestinian families and civilians involved in this crisis, and I ask President Biden and Secretary of State Blinken to continue to work toward a ceasefire. Israeli and Palestinian leaders must commit to working towards a long-term diplomatic solution.
