Congresswoman Beatty Heralds Huge $188 Million+ for Central Ohio Colleges, Universities, and Students

Today, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) announced $188,346,384 in emergency funding for colleges, universities, and students in Ohio's Third Congressional District. Funding was made available through the American Rescue Plan (P.L. 117-02), a comprehensive COVID-19 relief package strongly supported by Beatty, and will be used to help local institutions of higher education weather the financial fallout from the COVID-19 Pandemic. In addition, at least half of all funds will be distributed in the form of emergency cash assistance grants to students who are experiencing food insecurity, homelessness, and other financial difficulties.

"As the Representative of Ohio's Third Congressional District, and a former college administrator, I know firsthand the tremendous impact Central Ohio colleges and universities have on our community," Beatty said. "That is why I was insistent that the American Rescue Plan include a historic investment to secure the future for these valued institutions of higher education and, at the same time, provide struggling students with immediate relief so that they can complete their education ultimately." She added, "I am proud that Congressional Democrats were able to deliver this critical support, and I applaud the Biden-Harris Administration for its relentless focus on crushing COVID-19 and to Build Back Better."
