Congressman Anthony Brown Applauds Israel-Gaza Ceasefire

Statement

Congressman Anthony G. Brown (MD-04), a member of the House Armed Services Committee, released the following statement on the announced ceasefire between Israel, Hamas and other Gaza militants:

"The end of violence and ceasefire between Israel, Hamas and other militants in Gaza is positive news. As we mourn the loss of innocent Israelis and Palestinians from this most recent escalation, we must turn to the pursuit of lasting peace and security between all parties involved.

"As a world leader and Israel's foremost ally, I strongly believe that the United States must recommit ourselves to brokering an end to the cycle of bloodshed and the objective of two states existing together. More work is ahead of us to build trust and return to negotiations, and I applaud the announced ceasefire as a meaningful step to a more peaceful and secure future for all who live in the region."
