Congressman Anthony Brown: The United States Should Support A Cease-Fire And Diplomatic Resolution To Escalating Israel-Gaza Conflict

Statement

Congressman Anthony G. Brown (MD-04), a member of the House Armed Services Committee, released the following statement on the continued escalation of violence in Israel and Gaza and calls for a cease-fire:

"I am deeply concerned regarding the continued escalation of violence in Israel and Gaza and the loss of Palestinian and Israeli civilian lives. We must work quickly to bring an end to this cycle of bloodshed.

"Israel has a right to defend itself against Hamas terror attacks on its citizens within the rules and laws of armed conflict. Our close relationship with Israel has always centered on mutual respect for human rights, democratic institutions and the rule of law. These principles must be adhered to as we strive for enduring peace in the region. All parties must seek a diplomatic resolution to avoid further loss of life and the United States should continue to encourage an end to this violence through the support of a cease-fire."
