In a speech on the House floor today, Rep. Ted Budd (R-NC) stood up for Israel's right to defend itself amid terrorist attacks by Hamas. He also called on all of his House colleagues to have Israel's back in this current conflict.
The text of Rep. Budd's floor speech is below:
I rise to deliver a clear message: The United States must stand shoulder to shoulder with the State of Israel.
The choice for politicians in this chamber should be simple. On one side you have Hamas, a terrorist organization. They fire thousands of rockets at civilians. Their founding charter calls for Israel's destruction. On the other side you have Israel. They are the only democracy in the Middle East. They are our friend and ally. They are a force for stability in the region.
The "de-escalation" in this conflict should begin and end with Hamas. They must stop their terrorist attacks on Israeli civilians immediately. Until they do, Israel has every right to defend themselves, and the United States of America should have their back.
