Rep. Ted Budd (R-NC) proposed an amendment to H.R. 3237 to reallocate 5% of the supplemental funds to hiring, training, and paying salaries for new U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) officers. The additional USCP funding would total $90.9 million.

Rep. Budd said in a statement:

"Giving Capitol Police the man power to keep the Capitol Complex safe is a key component of reopening the People's House. I'm proud to propose an amendment that does just that."
