Sen. Rick Scott: Biden's Border Crisis Demands Real Leadership and Action

Statement

Date: April 19, 2021
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Immigration

Today, Senator Rick Scott released the following statement demanding President Biden take action to address the crisis at the U.S. Southern border. One month ago today, Senator Scott visited the Southern border with Arizona Governor Doug Ducey and received a briefing from state and federal law enforcement officers on the humanitarian crisis along the border created by Biden's inaction and policies of amnesty and open borders. Last week, Senator Scott led his colleagues in a resolution commending the bravery and hard work of Customs and Border Protection agents as they attempt to manage this crisis.

Senator Rick Scott said, "It's been exactly one month since I visited the Arizona to see Biden's border crisis firsthand and meet with our brave border patrol agents. In the last 30 days, while the national security and humanitarian crisis on the border has continued to worsen, President Biden has done absolutely nothing. U.S. Customs and Border Protection apprehended more than 170,000 illegal aliens trying to cross our border in March -- the highest monthly total in nearly 15 years. Last week, Biden finally acknowledged what we've been saying for months -- the situation at the border is a crisis. While it's great that he's finally rejoined reality, Biden still refuses to act or admit it's a crisis he created with his failed policies of open borders and amnesty. Biden's inaction puts American families and our brave law enforcement officers in danger every day. It's time for the President to show some real leadership and put the safety of American families above appeasing his radical left puppeteers. Biden must take action to secure the border now."
