Congressman Jim Costa released the following statement after attending a COVID-19 vaccine clinic in Winton which saw nearly 300 people receive their first vaccine dose. Winton is one of the hardest hit communities of the pandemic and the clinic was a collaboration between Merced County and Rite Aid to ensure residents of this rural area had equal access to vaccinations:
"While the growing number of people being vaccinated in the valley and throughout the state is good news, our rural communities need more attention," said Costa. "To truly defeat this virus, we need to ensure that every single person who wants a vaccine has easy access to one. Today's partnership between Rite Aid and the County of Merced brought vaccines to the community and I'm hopeful we can continue working together to get all of Merced County vaccinated."
