Baltimore Is Taking Action To Simplify Vaccinations, Maryland Should Follow Suit

Congressman Anthony G. Brown (MD-04) released the following statement praising Baltimore's new one-stop portal for vaccine appointments:

"Far too many Marylanders remain frustrated and confused as to how to get vaccinated. While Governor Hogan has taken half-steps with the creation of a website for mass vaccination sign-ups, Maryland still lacks a comprehensive one-stop portal for all appointments. We cannot structure an equitable system if we are asking residents to spend hours checking different websites and filling out multiple forms in order to secure an appointment. I'm glad to see Baltimore is taking action to simplify vaccinations, Maryland should follow suit.

"We need to be meeting Marylanders where they are and make getting a vaccine as easy and simple as possible. By being proactive and notifying residents about available appointments through a one-stop portal, we can more readily vaccinate underserved communities and communities of color. We can't leave anyone or any community behind in our vaccination efforts. I continue to urge Governor Hogan and localities around Maryland to emulate successful models from around the country to quickly and equitably vaccinate all of our residents."

Congressman Brown has introduced legislation to simplify vaccination registrations throughout the country. The VACCINE Act would provide grants to every state to create or maintain a centralized system for residents to register for a vaccine.
