WASHINGTON -- U.S. Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today released the following statement regarding an announcement that the Appropriations Committee will, on a bipartisan basis, accept requests for congressionally directed spending items for Fiscal Year 2022 appropriations bills:

"I support the return of congressionally directed spending. Senators and Representatives know their states and districts better than federal agency personnel in Washington."
