Congressman Cleaver Announces Community Health Centers in MO-05 To Receive $20.8 Million in American Rescue Plan Funding To Expand Access to Vaccines

Today, United States Representative Emanuel Cleaver, II (D-MO) announced that four Community Health Centers in the Fifth Congressional District of Missouri will receive over $20.8 million from the American Rescue Plan to expand access to COVID-19 vaccination, testing, and treatment operations. The funding comes from the American Rescue Plan's investments in expanding access to coronavirus vaccines in underserved communities, something Congressman Cleaver has been advocating for since the beginning of the pandemic.

"Thanks to the American Rescue Plan, help is here for Missouri's Community Health Centers," said Congressman Cleaver. "For the duration of the pandemic, we've known that underserved communities are bearing the brunt of the devastation caused by coronavirus. I'm pleased that our efforts to provide desperately needed resources to these communities are beginning to bear fruit. Community Health Centers have been on the frontlines of this public health crisis, and they're critical to getting shots into arms so that we can save lives and put an end to COVID-19 once and for all."

Community Health Centers in Missouri's Fifth Congressional District receiving funds include:

Swope Health Services - $10,503,000;
Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center, Inc. - $5,342,625;
Kansas City Care Clinic - $3,492,625; and
Health Care Coalition of Lafayette County - $1,470,625.
The funding can be used to expand COVID-19 vaccinations, testing, and treatment for vulnerable populations; deliver preventive and primary health care services to people at higher risk for COVID-19; and expand health centers' operational capacity during the pandemic and beyond, including modifying and improving physical infrastructure and adding mobile units.
