Murphy and LaHood Announce U.S.-Brazil Caucus for 117th Congress

U.S. Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy, D-Fla., and Congressman Darin LaHood, R-Ill., announced the formation of the bipartisan U.S.-Brazil Caucus for the 117th Congress.

"I am proud to co-chair the bipartisan U.S.-Brazil Caucus with Congressman LaHood, especially since Florida is home to about 400,000 individuals of Brazilian heritage, the most of any state," said Murphy. "I look forward to further strengthening the cultural, economic, and defense ties between our two nations. Trade and tourism will be a particular focus of mine, given that Brazil is Florida's largest export market, is one of the top-three sources of international tourists to Florida, and has nearly $4 billion invested in our state."

"In Illinois, our workers, farmers, and manufacturers rely on the economic relationship between the United States and Brazil to remain competitive in the global economy," said LaHood. "The U.S. relationship with Brazil is critical to the mutual advancement of both countries and I look forward to working with Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy and our colleagues in both parties to bolster that partnership."

The U.S.-Brazil Caucus, originally formed in 1999, brings Members of Congress from both sides of the aisle together to foster understanding and enhance the U.S. relationship with Brazil. The Caucus also aims to protect and maintain the free market system, and identify ways to increase the flow of trade and investment between the two countries.
