Statement Of U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell On Burma

U.S. Senate Majority Whip Mitch McConnell praised President George W. Bush today for expressing his support of freedom in Burma during the State of the Union Address:

"The President is to be commended for his steadfast leadership in supporting freedom in Burma. I look forward to continuing to work with him and the Administration on this issue, including to renew sanctions against the repressive regime and to secure more formal debate and action on Burma by the U.N. Security Council this year."
