Today, Rep. Ted Budd (R-NC) proposed an amendment to H.R. 6 that would allow the victims of crimes committed by illegal immigrants to sue sanctuary cities if that's where the crime occurred.
The amendment is identical to Rep. Budd's Justice for Victims of Sanctuary Cities Act, which he introduced alongside Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) in January.
Rep. Budd said in a statement:
"The current crisis on our southern border was caused by the reckless open borders policies of the Biden administration. Until they stand up for law and order and public safety, the crisis will continue and the human suffering will get worse. It's long past time that cities who refuse to enforce our immigration laws face legal consequences. When laws are not enforced, completely preventable tragedies strike. That has to stop, and my amendment would go a long way to end the lawlessness."
