Resident Commissioner Jenniffer González Colón announced the approval of $ 122,535,235 in federal funds allocated by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for child care and health services.

The United States Department of Health and Human Services, through the Administration for Children and Families / HHS Office of Head Start, allocated various funds under the Disaster Assistance program to Head Start Centers within the category of social services. . Among the funds allocated, the Municipality of Guaynabo will receive $ 16,784,317.

On the other hand, within HHS funds for Head Start and Early Head Start, the Administration for Comprehensive Care and Development of Children will receive $ 45,595,661. Likewise, the Municipality of Bayamón will receive $ 7,946,762; the Municipality of Carolina will receive $ 3,228,384 and $ 1,037,861; the Municipality of Guaynabo will receive $ 8,650,498; the Municipality of Manatí will receive $ 5,579,518; the Municipality of Mayagüez will receive $ 4,319,467; the Municipality of Utuado will receive $ 4,698,568; the SHS Diocese of Mayagüez Family Development Center will receive $ 3,429,505 and the Christian Military Academy, Inc. will receive $ 1,742,895 and $ 1,270,386 for Head Start and Early Head Start projects.

These funds allocated for Head Start are final and only the date of their disbursement by the agency remains pending, which varies depending on the program.

The United States Department of Health and Human Services, through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), allocated federal funds for 330 Centers. These centers are known as 330 Centers because they receive funds from the federal government through of section 330 of the Public Health Service Act (PHSA) when applying to the Health Center Cluster program, as a community body that offers comprehensive primary health care services in areas where economic or geographic barriers limit access to affordable health care services .

As part of these funds, Centro De Salud De Lares Inc. will receive $ 2,976,600; Patillas Inc. Primary Health Services Center will receive $ 4,385,611; HPM Foundation, Inc. will receive $ 5,698,854 and Costa Salud Community Health Centers Inc. will receive $ 3,693,810.

On the other hand, HRSA allocated $ 1,213,447 to the Municipality of San Juan under Ryan White funds under the program "Ending the HIV Epidemic: A Plan for America Ryan White HIV / AIDS" in the category of health services.

In addition, HRSA allocated $ 3,976,901 to the Puerto Rico Department of Health for health services for mothers and infants.
