Jenniffer González announces $ 74.7 million for Bayamón, Barceloneta, Orocovis, Patillas, San Juan, Centros 330 and Head Start

Resident Commissioner Jenniffer González Colón announced several allocations in federal funds totaling $ 74,749,937 by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for child care services.

The United States Department of Health and Human Services, through the Office of Head Start of the Administration for Children and Families, allocated various funds under the Disaster Assistance program to Head Start Centers within the category of social services. .

Among the funds allocated, the Municipality of Bayamón will receive $ 1,798,106; the Municipality of Patillas will receive two items of $ 11,722,972 and $ 290,400 and the Municipality of San Juan will receive $ 2,299,118. In addition, the SHS Diocese of Mayagüez Family Development Center will receive $ 12,349,404 and the Administration for the Comprehensive Care and Development of Children will receive $ 1,946,000.

On the other hand, within HHS funds for Head Start and Early Head Start, the Municipality of Barceloneta will receive $ 17,954,068; the Municipality of Guayama will receive $ 12,988,502 and the Municipality of Orocovis will receive $ 8,356,546. These funds allocated for Head Start are final and only the date of disbursement of them by the agency is pending, which varies depending on the program.

The United States Department of Health and Human Services, through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), allocated federal funds for 330 Centers

. These centers are known as 330 Centers because they receive funds from the federal government through of section 330 of the Public Health Service Act (PHSA) when applying to the Health Center Cluster program, as a community body that offers comprehensive primary health care services in areas where economic or geographic barriers limit access to affordable health care services . As part of these funds, the Municipality of San Juan will receive $ 1,104,581 and the Puerto Rico Department of Health will receive $ 4,806,130.

Within the funds allocated by HHS by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention / CDC-NCIPC National Center for Chronic Diseases Prevention & Health Promotion (DP), the Puerto Rico Department of Health will receive $ 1,080,110 for scientific research for the project "Prevention and Control of Chronic Disease and Associated Risk Factors in Puerto Rico".
