Boyle Statement on House Passage of Historic $1.9 Trillion American Rescue Plan

Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02) released the following statement following this morning's passage of the historic American Rescue Plan in the U.S. House of Representatives:

"Today, House Democrats delivered on our promise to provide relief to the American people. The American Rescue Plan that we just passed, will crush the virus, return children safely to the classroom, get vaccines in arms, and put people back to work. The American people cannot afford any more delays. I look forward to swift passage of this historic relief package in the Senate, so President Biden can promptly sign the American Rescue Plan into law."

"As Vice chair of the House Budget Committee, and as a member of the House Ways & Means Committee, I am proud of the work my colleagues in crafting and passing this COVID relief package," Boyle added. "Collectively, there were more than 100 total hours of vigorous House debate across all committees. Our efforts have moved long overdue relief closer to the American people."

"I must add that I was extremely disappointed that the Senate Parliamentarian's ruling will remove the $15 minimum wage provision," Boyle added. "I will not give up on my fight to raise the minimum wage to $15 to help millions of struggling American workers and their families. I am committed to getting the "Fight for $15" across the finish line in the coming months."

State and local funding: The bill provides $350 billion for state and local funding.
Philadelphia will receive: $1.4 billion
Pennsylvania will receive: $13 billion
Child care funding: The relief package provides $39 billion through the Child Care and Development Block Grant
Pennsylvania will receive $1,118,000,000
Head start funding: The bill provides $1 billion
Pennsylvania will receive $34,669,000
K-12 funding: The bill provides $130 billion to help schools re-open
Pennsylvania will receive $5,266,517,000
Higher education funding: The bill provides nearly $40 billion
