Arrington Blasts Speaker Pelosi's Radical Rules Package

Statement

Today Rep. Arrington (TX-19) released the following statement:

"Attention, America! Today, Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats jammed through a radical Rules Package that fundamentally changes how the House of Representatives will function and sends a jarring message to the American people about the direction Democrats want to take our great nation. Pelosi's rules will:

Trample the rights of the minority party by gutting the Motion to Recommit (MTR), the only procedure that gives the minority party an opportunity to amend extreme, egregious bills;
Strips Freedom of Speech by censoring Members of Congress and Staff and threatening "disciplinary action" for sharing information that challenges the liberal worldview;
Abandon time honored American values by prohibiting "gendered" terms like mother, father, sister, brother, son, and daughter;
Blow up our national debt by removing important guardrails that control our spending
While concerning, this disregard for our debt is unsurprising -- the last time a Democratic majority debated and passed a budget in the House was April 29, 2009.

These rule changes are more than procedural in nature -- they are a clear depiction of extreme Democrat values and how out of touch they are with Americans. I voted against this Rules Package and will continue to fight for the Traditional American Values that serve as the foundation of our country."
