Dear Speaker Moore and Senator Berger:
we are writing to express our strong bipartisan support for the recently introduced legislation that would provide funding of a new Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.
The Brody School of Medicine is a leading economic engine for eastern North Carolina, recruiting talented young professionals, providing first-class education, and retaining physicians to deliver exceptional healthcare to our underserved communities. The Brody School of Medicine ranks in the top 10% of U.S. medical schools for graduating physicians who practice primary care, practice in North Carolina, and practice in underserved areas. The school only matriculates North Carolina residents and the great majority of these graduates stay in North Carolina and a new school will ensure its ability to continue serving our critically underserved areas.
The proposed funding for the state-of-the-art facility, combined with growing community investments from East Carolina and the City of Greenville, will undoubtedly attract top talent and provide significant economic impact to eastern North Carolina.
We are immensely eager to see funding for a new Brody School of Medicine come to fruition. Thank you and your colleagues for your continued service and dedication to our region and state.
Sincerely,
