Grothman's Statement on Short-Term Government Funding Bill

Congressman Glenn Grothman (WI-06) released the following statement after voting for H.J. Res. 107, a bill to fund the government through 11:59 p.m. on December 20, 2020. This short-term bill was passed while Congress continues to negotiate legislation to fund the government for a longer period. H.J. Res. 107 passed the House of Representatives on December 18, 2020 by a vote of 320-60.

"Today I voted to keep the government open for two more days while negotiations are pending for a longer-term budget for the year ending September 30, 2021," said Grothman. "60 of my colleagues voted to shut down the government, however I don't understand the logic in shutting down national parks, telling federal employees they cannot work and closing other government facilities. This will only inconvenience Americans and add to the stress they currently face due to COVID-19."
