North Dakota's Congressman Kelly Armstrong released the following statement on his vote against the CASH Act, which would increase direct payments authorized by the Consolidated Appropriations Act from $600 to $2,000.

"I have long supported commonsense, targeted relief. The bill voted on yesterday that raises direct payments to $2k has serious flaws and does not provide targeted relief to those who need it most. It increases payments to those who have not faced unemployment or income loss. I support programs like the PPP and assisting families and businesses that have been devastated by the pandemic. Even if we had unlimited amounts of money, I would not support giving everyone money regardless of their being impacted by the pandemic or not. We need to provide targeted relief to those in need," said Congressman Armstrong.
