Passing of Coretta Scott King

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (Conn.-3) issued the following statement on the passing of Coretta Scott King today. DeLauro is an original cosponsor of a House resolution honoring the life and accomplishments of Mrs. King and expressing condolences to the King family.

"My thoughts and prayers are with the King family during this difficult time. Today is not only a sad day for their family, but for so many Americans touched by Coretta Scott King's important work. Although her life was pointed in a different direction, she worked to further the Civil Rights Movement with her husband and continued this effort long after his passing. Her work changed the direction of this country. Hers is a powerful legacy."
