Cotton Introduces Budget Amendments to Protect Against Far-Left Policies

Press Release

Date: Feb. 3, 2021
Location: Washington, DC

Senator Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) today introduced the following six amendments to the Senate Democrats' budget reconciliation bill to ensure taxpayer funds are not redirected to support far-left priorities:

Amendment prohibiting COVID-19 relief funds from being used for school systems that are not conducting in-person learning.
Amendment prohibiting more than nine Supreme Court Justices.
Amendment allowing the imposition of sanctions on the Chinese Communist Party for concealing information regarding COVID-19.
Amendment prohibiting illegal aliens from accessing Medicaid and federally-funded health-care exchanges.
Amendment to fully fund the nuclear triad.
Amendment prohibiting taxpayer funds from being used on foreign aid for non-profits that conduct or support abortion.
"Republicans are happy to work with Democrats to bring COVID-19 relief to the American people, but we cannot and will not support a bill that redirects funds to long-standing Democratic priorities. My amendments are designed to ensure the American people -- not the Senate Democrats' far-left policies -- are protected."
