Rose Votes No On Impeachment

U.S. Representative John Rose (TN-6) voted against impeachment Wednesday.

"Some votes are difficult or a close call. This was not one of those votes," said Rep. Rose. "At home, many Tennesseans are anxiously awaiting the COVID-19 vaccination, they are eager to get their businesses running at full speed, and above all, they are ready to get back to life before this virus."

"Throughout the first 231 years of the republic, impeachment has been rare; I fear it will now be rare that a president is not impeached," Rose said. "The impeachment was approved without investigation, hearings, presentation of evidence or deliberation."

"Despite the fact that today's impeachment cannot possibly result in the president's expulsion by the Senate before he leaves office and despite the fact that the president has repeatedly committed to a peaceful transition of power, Democrat leaders still pursued this politically motivated, fundamentally flawed, and abusive exercise in futility," said Rose.

"Tennesseans are sick and tired of this nonsense," said Rose. "I refuse to fall into the tone-deaf Washington routine of giving priority to political games that fan the flames of division over working to restore the American people's faith in our institutions and addressing the real issues affecting our nation."
