Statement Of U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell On Senate Confirmation Of Justice Samuel Alito

U.S. Senate Majority Whip Mitch McConnell released the following statement today on the Senate's vote to confirm Judge Samuel Alito as an associate justice on the U.S. Supreme Court:
"This is a great day for America and the Constitution. Samuel Alito is a man of extraordinary ability and character, and he will make an outstanding Supreme Court Justice. I extend my congratulations to our newest Associate Justice and his family on this historic achievement. I also applaud Chairman Specter for his leadership during the confirmation process."
